History Of Helderberg Village Golf Course

In the late 1980s, our golf course, designed by an associate of Bob Grimsdell in conjunction with the original developers of Helderberg Village began to take shape. The Golf Club was formed during 1989. Play was possible on some holes during 1989 and early 1990, and in December 1990, the first sponsored golf competition was held. The course was in its infancy in those days, but the first and subsequent golf committees have worked tirelessly to improve the course. In the mid1990s alternate tees were added to the original nine tees, to allow 18-hole rounds, and in the last few years the course has matured into one of the most scenic and challenging in the Western Cape, Tees and greens are in excellent condition: fairways are true and fair: and trees and gardens have grown and matured. The course is surrounded by some magnificent views, from the Helderberg mountain, across False Bay through to Cape Town’s Table Mountain

Our nine-hole golf course offers alternate tees and is set amidst the beautiful estate. After your game, relax and unwind in our elegant lounge, billiard room, ladies bar, and patios, or freshen up in our newly revamped showers and changing room facilities. Come and experience golfing at its finest this winter!

Membership

All of the course improvements have taken place within our internationally award- winning retirement development. Villagers are encouraged to join the Golf Club, as are non-resident golfers who now make up in excess of 40% of our total membership. They also have full access to the wonderful facilities available in the Golf Club and the clubhouse complex. Numerous other Village sporting clubs are also open for non-owner members to join.
