Santa Shoebox Project

2024-11-18

312 beautiful Santa Shoeboxes were delivered to the Santa Shoebox drop-off at Somerset Mall last week.

HUGE thanks to Laurette, who has stored all our boxes, all the flat-pack boxes, and all our shopping stuff, as well as to the team that helped deliver the boxes.

Many thanks to everyone who has contributed in any way to making our project such a success again this year. We are the biggest contributor in the Helderberg area, which has pledged 2300 boxes this year.

We are delighted that so many villagers collected boxes from the mall for us; we will be off to a great start next year!

The Santa Shoebox Project (SSP) began in Cape Town in 2006 with 180 shoeboxes and has since donated over 1.2 million shoeboxes to underprivileged children in South Africa and Namibia. In 2020, SSP reached its milestone of one million shoeboxes and expanded its efforts to create lasting socio-economic change. Through the SSP Legacy, the organization focuses on early childhood development with three key pillars – Build, Learn, and Read. To date, it has built five Early Childhood Development Centres in rural South Africa, emphasizing infrastructure, teacher training, and early literacy to create lasting change in the communities they serve.
